The Maharashtra Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (MREAT) has overturned MahaRERA’s 2022 decision directing 36 homebuyers in Mumbai’s Winter Green project to settle disputes through arbitration. MahaRERA had relied on arbitration clauses in agreements signed between 2012 and 2016. However, MREAT ruled that disputes under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, are not subject to arbitration, even if such clauses exist. The tribunal clarified that RERA provisions override prior agreements and apply retrospectively. Rajasthan’s Urban Development and Housing Minister, Jhabar Singh Kharra, launched eight residential projects on May 12, 2025, including three by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and five by the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB). JDA’s schemes offer 765 plots in Jaipur, including Ganga Vihar, Yamuna Vihar, and Saraswati Vihar, with prices ranging from Rs 14,000 to Rs 15,500 per sqm. Uttar Pradesh RERA has warned builders against giving possession of incomplete flats, often called "canvas flats," to homebuyers. These units typically lack basic amenities like flooring, plumbing, electrical fittings, and kitchen fixtures. The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth Rs 2,348 crore linked to WTC Group firms and promoter Ashish Bhalla in a money laundering case. The attached properties include land and unsold real estate in Delhi-NCR and residential units in Goa. The Noida Authority has initiated recovery of Rs 277 crore from Sikka Infrastructure for unpaid dues on a group housing project in Sector 143B. Despite a state policy offering relief for stalled projects, Sikka failed to pay the required Rs 52 crore, forfeiting the benefits. The project, allotted in 2011, has seen limited construction and no unit registrations. Only 749 of 1,351 approved units are built, with 323 receiving occupancy certificates.
