The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has approached the Supreme Court seeking exemption from certain RERA provisions to facilitate the completion of 16 stalled Supertech housing projects. The plea follows the NCLAT’s refusal to grant such relief, stating that it lacked authority to exempt statutory RERA requirements. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear NBCC’s plea and sought responses from the Centre and former Supertech director Ram Kishor Arora. The 16 projects cover nearly 49,748 homes across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Karnataka, with around 27,000 homebuyers awaiting possession. The matter is scheduled for hearing on September 24, 2026.
