Dated on: Tuesday 6th March 2018

Despite of eight months of its inception, there is no permanent regulator for TNRERA. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is presently acting as interim chairman of the RERA authority in Tamil Nadu. The State Government of Tamil Nadu passed the RERA Rules on June 22, 2017. Ramaprabhu, honorary secretary of the Builder Association of India's Southern Centre, Chennai, said a full-time chairman and members were essential for smooth functioning of the authority. "Their presence is required for swift action and quick disposal of the grievances of home buyers," he stated.

As per the Real Estate Regulatory Act 2016, every state needs to form an authority within the stipulated period of one year from the date of the act enforcement.
