Maharashtra Tightens Recovery Rules, Gives Priority to MahaRERA Warrants

Dated on: Monday 31st August 2026

The Maharashtra government has issued comprehensive guidelines to speed up recovery of outstanding real estate dues, with special priority given to recovery warrants issued in MahaRERA cases. The revised framework empowers revenue officials to trace, attach and, where required, auction properties of defaulting developers. It also introduces defined timelines and greater coordination among revenue authorities to improve enforcement. The move is aimed at ensuring faster execution of MahaRERA orders and helping homebuyers recover compensation, interest and other dues. The new mechanism is expected to strengthen accountability among developers and make the recovery process more efficient and time-bound.
