MahaRERA Struggles with Over 7,000 Pending Complaints Amid Staff Shortage
Dated on: Monday 16th June 2025Since its inception in 2017, MahaRERA has received over 29,000 complaints, resolving nearly 22,000. However, more than 7,300 cases remain unresolved, some pending for up to five years—far beyond the 60-day resolution limit set by the RERA Act. The authority faces a severe manpower crunch with only three adjudicating officers handling thousands of cases. Experts are urging the appointment of more officers and creation of regional benches to address the backlog. In April 2025, MahaRERA began prioritizing cases involving critically ill complainants to fast-track relief.
