
Odisha RERA Falls Inactive After Last Member's Exit, Stalling Real Estate Functions
Dated on: Monday 12th May 2025The Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) has become defunct after its last serving member, Gopal Chandra Patnaik, retired on May 9, 2025. Earlier, Chairperson Siddhanta Das and Member Pradeep Biswal also exited, leaving the authority without any officials. This has stalled project registrations and grievance redressal, troubling homebuyers. The Housing and Urban Development Department is in the process of appointing new members. Concerned citizens have approached the courts, with the Orissa High Court issuing a notice to the state government. Activists stress the need for ORERA’s swift revival to maintain real estate regulation in the state.
