State Governments responsible to maintain RERA website – Central Government

Dated on: Wednesday 1st August 2018

Replying to a query in Lok Sabha over maintaining information related to real estate projects in any States or Union Territories, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri said, “The Ministry does not maintain information about various housing projects of any state or UT. As per provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA), the concerned state is required to publish and maintain a website of records for public viewing of relevant details."

RERA was implemented by the Indian government in 2016 to streamline the way of doing business in the real estate sector. According to the RERA rules, developers should register their real estate projects with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority of the state where the project is being developed whereas the RERA rules direct real estate agents to register themselves in order to carry out any business in the said sector.
