Delhi RERA Official Says Regulation Must Build Trust in Real Estate

Dated on: Wednesday 9th September 2026

Delhi RERA member Devesh Singh said effective regulation should strengthen trust among homebuyers, developers and investors rather than become a barrier to business. Speaking at an ASSOCHAM real estate conference, he highlighted RERA’s role in improving transparency, accountability and investor confidence. He said mandatory project registration and disclosures help buyers assess land titles, approvals, plans and other key details. Singh also pointed to the 70% escrow requirement, which restricts the use of collected funds to land and construction costs. He stressed that RERA is not anti-developer and can provide credibility, financing support and greater market confidence to compliant developers.
