MahaRERA Recovers Only 33% of Rs 792 Crore Ordered for Homebuyers

Dated on: Monday 29th December 2025

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has recovered only around 33% of the Rs 792 crore it ordered developers to pay homebuyers over the last three years. Although recovery certificates are issued to district collectors to treat dues as land revenue, collections have remained slow. Officials cited reasons such as stalled projects, weak financial positions of developers, and difficulties in tracing defaulters. The shortfall has raised concerns among homebuyers and experts, who argue that stronger enforcement measures are needed. The situation highlights a major gap between regulatory orders and actual relief reaching affected homebuyers.
