Himachal Pradesh HC Fines State for RERA Appointment Delays
Dated on: Monday 23rd June 2025The Himachal Pradesh High Court has imposed a Rs 5 lakh fine on the state government for failing to appoint a RERA Chairman and members despite repeated orders. The court criticized the use of RERA’s relocation to Dharamshala as an excuse for the delay, suggesting a possible intent to obstruct the process. One member, Vidur Mehta, was recently appointed, but other key posts remain vacant. The issue arose from a PIL also challenging the extension of Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, who faces a CBI chargesheet. The next hearing is scheduled for June 25, 2025.
