The real estate industry has experienced several serious scams in the last decade. The agents would either break their commitments or abandon the project in the middle. To prevent such frauds from happening again, the Government of India established a framework to improve the state of the real estate sector. This set of laws and regulations is known as the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act of 2016, or RERA Act.
RERA Rules in Chandigarh were notified on October 31, 2016, in accordance with the Central Act. In this state, RERA was supposed to be implemented from 1st May 2017 but still, authority is not yet come to the framework and no registration work is started yet. RERA Fees for Promoters and Real Estate Agent are already mentioned in the notified rules.
